How do I measure my exhaust pipe?

With the exhaust cool, run a tape measure straight across the widest point of the open end of the pipe, outside edge to outside edge.

The first number is the inlet, the end that slides onto your pipe. The second number is the outlet, the big end you see. So 5" to 8" fits a 5" pipe and finishes with an 8" opening.
